This AM I received an email from a friend and associate who seemed annoyed with some recent postings on the listserv we both subscribe to. She posed thoughts about whether or not it was time to censor some posts or to put the listserv to pasture.

It brought to mind that over the years communication has evolved from grunts and shouts into “tweets”.  Reminds me of the cave man to what I look like at the computer:

From the cave to the computer

From the cave to the computer

We now have so many blogs that it has become a must for a website!  We listen in sound bytes…we tweet and text…we watch YouTube, trailers…  Do we think in paragraphs anymore?

Listservs have been used by companies and associations for the 20 most recent years as a way for employees and members to communicate with each other. Has the listserv as a static means of communication passed its prime?

Or not…  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0512-BOsk

Yesterday I had an opportunity to meet with Sedona’s Committee for Public input on Additional Dwelling Units. Knowing that there are many people who are renting out a guest house on their property even though it is illegal to do so at this time, I wanted to attend the meeting to give my support to the newly crafted ordinance.

Why support this ordinance? Neighborhoods already have people who are renting out guest houses. Why not do it and have rules that protect the neighborhood? One thing I did not know: the City will offer an amnesty program that is somewhat complicated but exists.

Sedona is limited in land for residential and commercial construction and if you remember Econ 101, low supply and high demand will drive up prices. Sedona has been there for years…even during this down time. Did you know that in the Sedona areas 41 & 42 (MLS) we have only 16 Active Residential listings $329,000 and below and 17 active Manufactured homes; in escrow: 13 Residential and 0 Manufactured. In the last 6 months we have sold: 23 Residential and 10 Manufactured. This is a snapshot of Sedona’s affordable housing.

Because Sedona is primarily a tourist town, we desparately need homes for those who are in the service industry, school teachers, retirees, caregivers, nurses, and many others who work in the Sedona area. To access the information about the Housing Commission’s quest: http://www.sedonaaz.gov/egov/sidePage.aspx?dID=Housing%20Commission and you can send your comments to Ajuhlin@SedonaAz.gov Let them know how you feel about legalizing ADUs.

Have a great Sedona day!

Help!!!  My 14 year old cat was recently diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism.  She had a T-score of 14 (not great) and is on her first 2 weeks of medication before another round of blood and urine tests.  I understand she could be a candidate for a radio-iodine treatment (the thyroid is radiated), and many cats are just fine after that.

Anyone who has gone through this…please give me your experience.  I do also understand that the hyperthyroidism could be masking renal problems.

What to do?…

Until I got my Flip Camcorder, I was completely behind the curve on video clips on my websites…mainly I see so many very bad YouTube contributions that I have avoided the medium.  But, with the Flip and its self-contained software, the USB attachment, and the ability to edit, pull stills out of the video, I have found myself taking the Camcorder everywhere.  For good stills I continue to use my Sony, but for convenience, the Flip is my choice.

Your thoughts?
